Rob Ruthart, also known as "Reptile Rob" is an intriguing educator who captivates audiences with his knowledge, unique style of communication and passion for teaching children about the world they live in.Rob attended Humber College for jazz, he was accepted after auditioning on clarinet and agreeing to learn saxophone over the summer, at a profesional level, so he did.
While at Humber, he was drawn by his love of teaching children and began teaching at a music school in Oakville Ontario where he taught recorder, flute, clarinet, saxophone and guitar to 40 students per week.
Being Reptile Rob, he of couse, had a collection of reptiles and would bring them in to class to show his students as a reward for accomplishing their goals. Then one day, one of his students parents asked Rob if he could show the reptiles at her child's birthday party, so he did.
Rob immediately fell in love with the teaching experience and was officially hooked. He quickly decided to make a career of teaching children about reptiles so in 2003 Reptile Party Inc. was born! In a short time Reptile Party Inc. grew and the programming expanded. In 2011 it was decided to re-brand Reptile Party Inc. to Safari Science. The new name better reflects the variety of programming offered which includes a plethora of science experiments, equipment, props and live mammals, reptiles, birds, amphibians and more.
At home Rob is married to Amber, also known as Amphibian Amber, and together they have three children with the youngest and oldest only 4 years apart. He has a blue belt in Brazilian Jiujutsu, plays wind instruments and guitar, draws, paints. Rob's favorite thing to do after work is to hang out and spend time with his wife and children.
