Rat

Salutations! My name is Bucko and I am a Blue Dumbo Rat. I am a warm-blooded mammal who is also known as a rodent. Rats are omnivorous creatures, whether they are wild or a pet, they tend to to eat the same kinds of food. Rats will eat just about anything, but the best thing for a rat to eat are lab blocks, vegetables, fruits and grain.

Rats have very poor vision and are also colour blind, so they rely on their other senses guide them to food, water, and safety. Wild rats are able to determine whether or not something is rat poison after only tasting a small amount. In the wild, rats will make burrows near their favourite food and water source.

Pet rats are much different than the rats you would find in the wild. They enjoy cuddling and playing with their owners, and appreciate the company of other rats.

Did you know...
Rats are able to learn tricks? Yup, it’s true! They can be taught to come over when called by their owner. Also, rats can learn how to spin, walk on their hind legs and even fetch!
